RUNNING COACH IRELAND´S MISSION IS SIMPLE: SHARE OUR EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE AND WORK WITH AS MANY COMMITTED RUNNERS AS POSSIBLE, HELPING THEM TO ACHIEVE THEIR RUNNING GOALS.

Since 2010 Running Coach Ireland and Réne Borg have been providing expert coaching for runners from complete beginners to successful competitive runners. Eoin Flynn joined him in this venture in 2020.

Réne specializes in building custom training plans, encouraging all round health, and taking into account busy modern day lifestyles. Réne is highly qualified in coaching, both academically and through his experience in coaching hundreds of athletes, organizing Ireland’s most comprehensive running technique workshops and giving educational talks to sports clubs and companies worldwide.

Eoin Flynn offers the same high standard of coaching with a particular specialty in road marathon plans drawing on his personal experience as a National level athlete and Irish Mountain Running international.

Running Coach Ireland´s proven methods and protocols have worked for hundreds of runners successfully, from elite marathon runners to beginner road runners and from Trail running record holders to mountain race first timers

RCI can provide custom tailor-made services for you in these areas:

  • Generic training plans (can be purchased directly through TrainingPeaks – )
  • Coaching support from 5k to Marathon and from short Mountain Races to Ultra Trail Races (through TrainingPeaks and email, whatsapp, skype/video call support)
  • Guided running (through Trailløbsferie.dk)
  • Social runs via Wicklow Wolf Run Club
  • Training plans (delivered through TrainingPeaks)
  • Training plan review (delivered through TrainingPeaks)
  • Workshops (from 2 hours to multi-day) events on all running-related topics (only on request)

RCI services are delivered through the TrainingPeaks. 

What do not currently offer

RCI do not offer face to face coaching or group coaching at present outside Rene´s  club role in Glendalough AC. Should you wish to work with RCI and Rene in that capacity and be local to Wicklow – join Glendalough AC.

We also do not coach junior athletes – you must be 18 years or older to work with us.

Product Offering 2023

WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO WORK WITH US?

  • Decide which of our two plans suit you best, email us if in doubt and we can organise an informal quick 10 minute chat to guide you through the two offerings
  • Confirm with us that we have an opening for you and the start date
  • fill in our athlete questionnaire (here you will also specify your preferred start date for the program)
    • You will specify the requested start time of your plan here. We will confirm whether we can deliver on that date or whether it will have to be later (we generally need a 2-3 week lead-time as we are always near capacity)
  • Setup a TrainingPeaks account once confirmed as a client we send you a link so you can attach Rene Borg or Eoin Flynn as coaches to your account). TrainingPeaks is where we deliver your plans.
    • If you are a Stryd Power metre user we will also ask you to invite us as your coach on that account and we will help you link your TrainingPeaks and Stryd accounts
  • Sync the TrainingPeaks account to your watch’s account (depending on the watch there is a different way to do it – but it is pretty simple)
  • Then we setup the intro call for the first few days of the plan (30-min with Gold plan or 1 hour with Platinum)
  • Setup a standing order for the start date of your plan to our bank account (we will provide details of the account once we confirm you as a client)
  • Finally, we share our private phone number with you, so you can avail of chat support through WhatsApp or Telegram.

In other word’s INSCYD allows you to discover what you should FOCUS on in training with the same level of precision you would expect from the world’s best laboratories.

DESCRIPTION

INSCYD is the most advanced software tool to analyze physiological performance in athletes. INSCYD enables you to create highly individual and laser focused training plans for yourself or let our coaches do it for you. In other word’s INSCYD allows you to discover what you should FOCUS on in training with the same level of precision you would expect from the world’s best laboratories.

You can achieve all this insight with one test done in the field in a time and place that suits you best. What do you need? A running watch and an accurate chest strap monitor (we recommend the Polar H10 for maximum accuracy).

Our existing clients are already benefitting from a high level of precision through our ‘best in class’ field tests but INSCYD elevates these insights to the next level of precision and adds other insights that you – until now – could only avail of by undergoing several separate laboratory tests (such as VO2max tests, lactate threshold tests, metabolic tests and more).

Optional add-on or stand-alone: Performance Projections

If you want to know exactly what metric to target for your goals add a performance projection to your test.

  • Performance projections: Performance projections allows you to learn exactly how much you must decrease or increase the physiological attributes (weight, VO2, VlamaX) etc. to reach your specific race goals. This allows you for the best possible goal-setting for your training.
